View and BookAttractively set within 400 acres of parkland, Balbirnie Park Club Campsite offers a variety of walks, some of which are suitable for cycling, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The site is great for dog owners, with plenty of open space and woodland, and is a great holiday location for everyone in the family. You have a choice of pitches: those grouped in open areas and surrounded by statuesque mature trees or others located in charming shady glades.
The nearby village of Markinch is only steps away and offers grocery shops, a post office, restaurants, bars and cafes, most of which offer free WIFI and are dog friendly.
The stunning beaches of Elie, Leven and St Monans are just a short drive away, as well as as award winning fish and chips shop in Anstruther. The beautiful Falkland Palace and gardens are also only 5.5 miles from site and well worth a visit.
The railway station, just 15 minutes’ walk from the site, provides direct links to Edinburgh, Dundee and Perth. Why not take a day trip to Edinburgh, just an hours’ train ride away that crosses the spectacular Forth Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The bus also stops directly outside the site making access to the local area easy.
For a more active way to spend the day visit Glenrothes and Kirkaldy sporting facilities or go swimming, ten pin bowling, ice skating, go carting or horse riding (all within five miles of the site). There is also a golf club in Balbirnie Park and a further 30 courses in Fife including the famous St Andrews course. The Balbirnie Park Club Site enjoys the annual Highland games for Markinch & Glenrothes located just opposite in the John Dixon Park, every first weekend in June. Enjoy traditional bagpipes, dancing, tug of war and caber throwing.

Please do not use sat nav on final approach to the site. From South leave M90 at junction 2A (junction 3 if approaching from North) onto A92 (signposted Kirkcaldy) for about 15 miles. At Tullis Russell roundabout turn right onto B9130 (signposted Markinch, Balbirnie Park House Hotel, Balbirnie Park international caravan site sign). In 0.75 mile turn left at large white signpost into Balbirnie Park. The site entrance is on the right in 30 yards.

As instructed in handbook I did not use Sat Nav to find this site - meaning I arrived at 12.50 - 10 minutes early. This did not please the lady warden. I said no panic I will happily wait until 13.00. This was not acceptable. I was INSTRUCTED to enter the site, drive round the one way system and EXIT the site to wait away OFF SITE until 13.00 precisely. ( Observing the 5 MPH limit - this took until 12.55, but I was duly sent off site only to return at 13.00). To say that my reception at 13.00 was cool would be an understatement - not the best start to a stay after a long hard drive at what is after all a Club Site run for members. Rules are rules and I did arrive early - I was happy to wait - NO - heaven help if you dare arrive here a few minutes early - You have been warned - so check you watch! Bye the way there is a sign in the Gents Toilet warning about the dire consequences of arriving early here - not quite sure how this helps as you can only access the toilet after you have arrived...? There are better sites on the network but the surrounding area especially the East Neuk makes up for it.
Comment from the Club
We are sorry you've been disappointed with your recent arrival experience and not being able to wait at the site or check in early on this occasion. Arrival times have become an increasingly emotive issue and we know it causes mixed feeling if we allow one or two guests to check in early or to sit and wait onsite, but then ask other arrivals to turn around and come back later. Due to the varying nature and layout of access roads across the network, it isn't always safe or possible for members to arrive and wait onsite or queue on these roads. If you have been welcomed to arrive early previously at another location, we kindly ask that current advice provided by our site teams is followed. We hope you'll be able to continue to enjoy future bookings and will support this change going forward by making suitable adjustments to your journey plans.
